# High Standard

## About

High Standard was founded in 1926 in Connecticut by Carl Gustave Swebilius, supplying deep hole drills and specialty machines to the firearms companies of the Connecticut Valley. It bought the Hartford Arms and Equipment Company in 1932 and began making .22 calibre pistols, which the US government later bought in quantity to train servicemen during the Second World War. High Standard Manufacturing Company of Houston, Texas acquired the assets, trademarks and target pistol line in spring 1993, moved them to Houston that July, and shipped the first Houston-made pistols in March 1994. The catalog lists an Enforcer .223 AR rifle.
