# Lyman

## About

Lyman was founded in 1878 by William Lyman in Middlefield, Connecticut as a maker of metallic gun sights, and is headquartered in Middletown after private investors acquired the company in 1978. Its product line covers reloading equipment, iron sights, gun care products and grips alongside firearms. Lyman builds traditional muzzleloading rifles, including the Deerstalker in .50 and .54 calibre in both percussion and flintlock, and black-powder cartridge rifles such as the Sharps Heritage in .38-55 Winchester.
