# UTAS

## About

UTAS is a Turkish firearms design and manufacturing company that has also built shotguns as an original equipment manufacturer for other brands. The UTS-15 began as a 2006 request from Smith & Wesson for a police shotgun, and development was led by the American designer Ted Hatfield. Smith & Wesson left the project around 2008 and UTAS continued alone, showing the gun at IDEX in 2011 and producing it from 2012. The UTS-15 is a bullpup 12-gauge pump shotgun with two magazine tubes holding 14 rounds. UTAS also makes the UT9 series of 9mm carbines and pistols and the XTR-12.
