## Description

The Armalite AR-50A1 is a single-shot rifle chambered in .50 BMG, built around precision shooting at extreme distances. At 34.8 lbs with a 30-inch barrel, it's a heavy, deliberate platform, not a field-carry gun, but one designed to shoot accurately from a stable position.

### Features
The aluminum stock keeps weight reasonable given the caliber, and the matte black finish reduces glare in outdoor light. The 30-inch barrel promotes bullet velocity and helps with accuracy at long range. Single-shot operation means no magazine to manage. Each shot is a deliberate act, which suits the precision-focused use case this rifle is built around.

The .50 BMG is effective well past 1,000 yards, though ammunition runs expensive and isn't always easy to source locally.

### Usage
This is a rifle for competitive long-range shooters and dedicated hobbyists who want to work at distance with a large-bore cartridge. It also appeals to collectors. The AR-50A1 is a well-known name in the .50 BMG category and its specifications are distinct enough to warrant a place in a serious collection. For casual or occasional shooters, the weight, price, and ammunition cost will likely be prohibitive.

## What Customers Say

*AI-generated insights from customer reviews*

The AR-50A1 in .50 BMG is generally well-regarded by the people who use it regularly, though the feedback is practical rather than uncritical.

Accuracy at long range is the consistent highlight. Precision shooters report tight, repeatable groups and find the rifle reliable across sessions. Build quality gets similar treatment. The construction feels substantial, and owners don't report problems with durability.

Recoil with the .50 BMG is significant, but the AR-50A1 handles it better than many rifles in the same class, which is a point owners mention as a genuine positive.

The weight, 34.8 lbs, is a regular discussion topic. For range use it's a non-issue; for any kind of field carry it's a real constraint. People who buy this rifle knowing it's a range-focused platform don't seem bothered, but it's worth factoring in.

Price is the other common thread. At $3,359 MSRP and with .50 BMG ammunition running what it does, this isn't a casual purchase. Most discussions frame it as a worthwhile investment for serious use, but not something to buy speculatively.

Customization options and aftermarket parts come up occasionally, with owners appreciating the modularity of the AR platform generally.

Overall the sentiment is positive among people shooting it for its intended purpose, long-range precision work, with the usual caveats about cost and weight for anyone considering it for lighter or more varied use.
