### Detailed Features
The satin stainless finish handles field conditions well. Rust and corrosion aren't a real concern in wet environments. The 5R rifling with a 1:16 RH twist stabilizes the heavy .450 Bushmaster projectiles effectively. The tang safety sits at the top of the receiver and is reachable without shifting your grip. Black laminate stock is more dimensionally stable than solid wood in temperature and humidity swings, and the rubber butt plate helps manage the cartridge's recoil.

At 20 inches, the barrel is short enough to handle well in dense cover, a meaningful feature for this caliber, which is commonly used in areas with rifle restrictions that allow straight-wall cartridges.

## What Customers Say

*AI-generated insights from customer reviews*

Owners of the Ruger No. 1 in .450 Bushmaster generally like the rifle, though the feedback is balanced with some practical concerns.

The fit and finish get regular praise. The satin stainless and black laminate combination looks clean, and the overall build quality feels solid. The single-shot falling-block action is a point of appreciation for those who specifically chose it; it's a different shooting experience compared to bolt guns.

The .450 Bushmaster cartridge is well-regarded for stopping power on larger game, and users report the rifle handles the recoil reasonably well. That said, the single-shot limitation means shot placement is critical. There's no quick follow-up if the first round doesn't do the job, which is a real consideration in big game hunting.

Balance and weight opinions split. Some find the 7.5-pound weight comfortable; others consider it heavy for a single-shot. Ergonomics are generally seen as good but not universal.

Price is a recurring topic. The No. 1 in stainless carries a higher price tag than entry-level options, and some buyers debate whether the craftsmanship justifies the cost relative to other .450 Bushmaster platforms.
