The adjustable stock changes the length of pull to fit different shooter builds and clothing layers. The polymer grip accepts four interchangeable palmswell adapters for a customized fit. The 1/2"-28 threaded muzzle takes standard 9mm suppressors and muzzle devices. The 23+1 capacity is higher than most handguns in the same caliber, which is one of the practical advantages of the carbine format. ## Frequently Asked Questions **Q: What caliber is the Smith & Wesson Response?** A: The Smith & Wesson Response is chambered in 9mm Luger (9x19 Para). **Q: Who makes the Response Carbine?** A: Smith & Wesson makes the Response Carbine. **Q: What type of firearm is the Smith & Wesson Response?** A: It is a semi-automatic pistol caliber carbine with a blowback action. **Q: How many rounds does the Smith & Wesson Response hold?** A: It has a 23+1 capacity. **Q: What is the barrel length of the Smith & Wesson Response?** A: The barrel is 16.5 inches long. **Q: Is the Smith & Wesson Response optic-ready?** A: Yes. Each link opens the video at the moment quoted.* > Interesting M&P pistol style AR grip which weirdly enough actually feels pretty comfortable unlike the Ruger which did the same thing but Smith's grip was better than the Ruger. > > — [Honest Outlaw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2cAVjEiHjA&t=136s) > Finely tuned I'm not sure I'm a shooter not an engineer but I can tell you the recoil impulse on this N9 carbine feels really good. > > — [Honest Outlaw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2cAVjEiHjA&t=193s) > Talk about first off the rail I would say is probably the biggest failure point of the gun that I've seen so far. > > — [Honest Outlaw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2cAVjEiHjA&t=518s) > One failure to extract if my memory serves me and overall I think that's pretty good reliability for a very affordable 9mm carbine. > > — [Honest Outlaw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2cAVjEiHjA&t=330s) > Somewhere between 3 to 5 in groups at 50 yards and with this we sha around 2 in groups at 50 yards with blazer brass. > > — [Honest Outlaw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2cAVjEiHjA&t=419s) ## What Customers Say *AI-generated insights from customer reviews* The Smith & Wesson 9mm Response Carbine draws positive reviews from shooters who use it at the range and for home defense, with a few practical considerations noted. Accuracy comes up most often as a positive, with owners reporting consistent groups at range distances. The semi-auto action is described as easy to operate and well-suited to shooters across experience levels. The ergonomics get good marks, and the adjustable stock adds flexibility. Using 9mm is specifically called out as a positive by users who want lower recoil and more affordable ammunition than rifle calibers. Weight is a recurring criticism. At 6.2 lbs some owners find it heavier than expected for a pistol-caliber carbine. Magazine compatibility questions come up from users who already own 9mm handguns and want to share magazines. Price is seen as reasonable by most, though a few point to competing options at lower cost. Customization options via the Picatinny rail are viewed positively, though some owners would like more aftermarket part options overall. ## Pricing **11 offers available** | Vendor | Price | |--------|-------| | Classicfirearms Com | $464.52 | | Grabagun Com | $509.99 | | Kygunco Com | $530.99 | | Buds Gun Shop | $530.99 | | Guns Com | $591.99 | | Guns Com | $595.99 | | Impactguns Com | $699.00 | | Shootingsurplus Com | $699.00 | | Gritrsports Com | $728.99 | | Ar 15 Discounts Com | $799.00 | *...and 1 more offers* ## Similar Products - [Smith & Wesson Response™ - 9mm Carbine, 16.5" Barrel, NJ Compliant](https://gunsnation.com/p/smith-wesson-response-9mm-carbine-16-5-barrel-nj-compliant/UCODeLik) - [Smith & Wesson Response 9mm Semi-Auto Rifle, 16.5" Barrel, Black](https://gunsnation.com/p/smith-wesson-response-9mm-semi-auto-rifle-16-5-barrel-black/UCODeLfY) - [S&W Response 9mm Carbine - CA Compliant, Optic-Ready & Modular](https://gunsnation.com/p/s-w-response-9mm-carbine-ca-compliant-optic-ready-modular/UCODeLh9) - [Smith & Wesson M&P FPC: Compact 9mm Folding Tactical Carbine](https://gunsnation.com/p/smith-wesson-m-p-fpc-compact-9mm-folding-tactical-carbine/UCODeKZ6) - [Smith & Wesson Response 9mm 16.5in Black](https://gunsnation.com/p/smith-wesson-response-9mm-16-5in-black/UCODeMhF) - [Smith & Wesson M&P9 Shield Plus - Compact 9mm EDC Kit](https://gunsnation.com/p/smith-wesson-m-p9-shield-plus-compact-9mm-edc-kit/UCODeJ0h) --- *Data from [GunsNation](https://gunsnation.com)*
