The compensated barrel vents gas upward to reduce muzzle rise, which helps keep follow-up shots on target during faster strings of fire. Standard sights are Tritium/Luminescent front with a Tactical Rack U-notch rear; a HEX Wasp Red Dot is available as an option. The polymer frame has Springfield's adaptive grip texture, which is aggressive enough to hold during rapid fire without being uncomfortable during all-day carry. The RDP designation (Rapid Defense Package) refers specifically to the compensated barrel and optics-ready combination. For shooters who want a ready-to-mount optic without modifying a stock gun, this configuration ships that way from the factory. ## Frequently Asked Questions **Q: What caliber is the Springfield Hellcat RDP?** A: The Hellcat RDP is chambered in 9mm Luger (9x19 Para). **Q: What is the barrel length of the Springfield Hellcat RDP?** A: It has a 3.8-inch barrel. **Q: How many rounds does the Springfield Hellcat RDP hold?** A: It comes with an 11-round flush magazine and a 13-round extended magazine. **Q: Who makes the Hellcat RDP?** A: The Hellcat RDP is made by Springfield Armory. **Q: What type of firearm is the Springfield Hellcat RDP?** A: It is a compact, double-action-only semi-automatic pistol. **Q: Is the Springfield Hellcat RDP optic-ready?** A: Yes, the slide is cut to accept red dot sights directly, with no adapter plate needed for compatible footprints. **Q: Where can I buy the Springfield Hellcat RDP?** A: Compare current vendor offers on this page. ## What Reviewers Say *Quoted verbatim from YouTube reviews. Each link opens the video at the moment quoted.* > I have held better micro compacts in my hand while shooting this pistol my thumb ends up holding the slide release down which consequently fails to lock the slide back on an empty magazine. > > — [All About Survival](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qu4_qwokeL4&t=113s) > I feel the position of the slide release is much better on the p365 however one thing that i like quite a lot is the slide serrations. > > — [All About Survival](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qu4_qwokeL4&t=143s) > Some are even calling it a better trigger than glock but i probably would disagree with that but i must mention that it has a shorter travel than glock. > > — [All About Survival](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qu4_qwokeL4&t=194s) > Tracking the target with a big yellow front sight is simple which makes taking follow-up shots fairly easy the recoil is also mild and the adaptive grip greatly allows you to maintain the grip. > > — [All About Survival](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qu4_qwokeL4&t=325s) > There are better triggers on single action handguns at a price far lower than this one and secondly i find slide release quite annoying. > > — [All About Survival](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qu4_qwokeL4&t=403s) ## What Customers Say *AI-generated insights from customer reviews* The Springfield Hellcat RDP MS gets solid marks from owners, particularly around the optics-ready/compensator combination as a factory package. Most users appreciate skipping aftermarket work to get a red dot-ready carry gun out of the box. Size and concealability come up consistently as positives. The gun is light and compact without giving up much capacity, and most find it easy to carry all day. Shooting performance is generally described as smooth and manageable. The compensated barrel reduces muzzle rise noticeably, and the trigger pull and reset get positive comments for a carry-class pistol. Recoil is described as controllable even during rapid fire. Ergonomics are well-regarded. The grip texture and overall balance feel good in hand, contributing to reliable control during faster shooting. Build quality and durability get favorable comments, with owners expressing confidence in the Melonite finish holding up over time. Capacity is a draw for users who want more rounds in a small package. The 11+1 flush fit and included 13-round extended magazine give flexibility depending on the carry situation. Price is viewed as fair by most given the included features, though some comparisons to other compact 9mm options in the same range come up in forum discussions. Springfield's customer service is generally described as responsive when issues do arise. Personal preference plays a role, as always; some shooters prefer different frame sizes or trigger characteristics, but the Hellcat RDP MS holds its own as a well-rounded carry option. ## Pricing **1 offers available** | Vendor | Price | |--------|-------| | Guns Com | $650.99 | ## Similar Products - [Springfield Hellcat OSP - 9mm Micro-Compact, Optics Ready Pistol](https://gunsnation.com/p/springfield-hellcat-osp-9mm-micro-compact-optics-ready-pistol/UCCR41kCO) - [Springfield Hellcat OSP 9mm Micro-Compact Optics-Ready Pistol](https://gunsnation.com/p/springfield-hellcat-osp-9mm-micro-compact-optics-ready-pistol/UCCR41mb0) - [Springfield Hellcat OSP 9MM Compact 13-Round Optics-Ready Pistol](https://gunsnation.com/p/springfield-hellcat-osp-9mm-compact-13-round-optics-ready-pistol/UCCR41ipc) - [Springfield Hellcat OSP 9MM Subcompact FDE - Optics Ready](https://gunsnation.com/p/springfield-hellcat-osp-9mm-subcompact-fde-optics-ready/UCCR41jzj) - [Springfield Hellcat OSP: Compact 9mm, High-Capacity Carry Pistol](https://gunsnation.com/p/springfield-hellcat-osp-compact-9mm-high-capacity-carry-pistol/UCCR41jhf) - [Springfield Hellcat OSP 9mm Compact Tactical Handgun](https://gunsnation.com/p/springfield-hellcat-osp-9mm-compact-tactical-handgun/UCCR41kLD) --- *Data from [GunsNation](https://gunsnation.com)*
