### Features
The stainless steel barrel and receiver hold up well in wet conditions, an important consideration for a hunting rifle used in varied weather. The matte finish reduces glare. Both the barrel and receiver are stainless, so the corrosion resistance isn't just surface-level.

The rifle ships drilled and tapped without fixed sights, so you'll need to add optics. That's standard for this class of rifle, and it lets you choose a setup matched to how you intend to use it.

The three-position safety gives you the option to unload or work the bolt with the safety engaged, a useful feature in the field. The 1:10 RH twist rate is well-suited to the .300 Win. Mag. bullet weights most hunters use.

### Who It's For
Hunters who want a lighter rifle in a hard-hitting caliber and don't want to worry about weather. The dark maple stock adds character, so it also appeals to collectors who want something that looks different from the standard black synthetic.

## What Customers Say

*AI-generated insights from customer reviews*

The Model 70 Featherweight Dark Maple in .300 Win. Mag. gets good marks from hunters who want a light rifle in a big cartridge. The dark maple stock stands out, owners who care about aesthetics mention it often, and it does look different from the usual synthetic alternatives.

Performance feedback is generally positive. The .300 Win. Mag. handles a wide range of game, and owners report the accuracy is there for the distances where this cartridge makes sense. The stainless finish is mentioned favorably for outdoor use where weather exposure is unavoidable.

Recoil comes up regularly. At 7 pounds, the Featherweight doesn't absorb much of the .300 Win. Mag.'s punch, which some shooters find manageable and others find significant. A few owners note that the rifle can feel less stable when shooting offhand compared to a heavier platform, a predictable trade-off for the weight savings.

Overall the reception is positive, with most owners recommending it for experienced hunters comfortable with magnum recoil.
