# Colt 1911 - Guns For Sale

The Colt 1911 is a semi-automatic pistol designed by John Moses Browning and adopted by the U.S. military in 1911. Chambered originally in .45 ACP and later in 9mm and other calibers, it uses a single-action, short-recoil operating system with a steel frame and slide. Standard magazine capacity is 7 or 8 rounds, though modern variants often offer more. The grip angle and balance produce natural pointability, and many models include adjustable sights. It has seen continuous use in military, law enforcement, competition, and civilian roles for over a century.
