Caracal International is an Emirati small arms manufacturer headquartered in Abu Dhabi and a subsidiary of the EDGE Group. It was established in 2007 and builds combat pistols, submachine guns, assault rifles and sniper rifles. The CAR816, also known as the Sultan, is a gas-operated 5.56x45mm NATO rifle and the primary infantry rifle of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces. Caracal USA in Boise, Idaho handles the North American market, and the group also owns Merkel and Haenel of Suhl, Germany. The catalog lists the CAR816 Gen 2, the Elite Gen 2 and the Enhanced F pistol in 9mm.
