I.O. Inc, also known as Inter Ordnance, was founded in 1995 by Uli Wiegand as an importer of military surplus parts. When the supply of surplus rifles dried up the company began building its own AK-pattern rifles in the United States in 2006. It closed its North Carolina plant in 2013 and built a new factory in Palm Bay, Florida, scrapping the old tooling and hiring from the local aerospace workforce. Products include the AKM247 rifle, the Hellhound and compact Hellpup in 7.62x39, the Polish Archer, a Makarov-pattern 9mm pistol, and the Kral XB semi-automatic shotgun.
