Inland Manufacturing is based in Dayton, Ohio, about two miles from the plant whose name it carries. The original Inland was a division of General Motors organised in 1922 to make steering wheels, and from September 1941 it built M1 Carbines, producing close to 2 million of them plus M1A1, M2 and M3 variants, along with much of the tooling other contractors used. The present company makes reproduction .30 calibre M1 carbines, including the M1A1 Paratrooper, the M1 Scout and the M1 1945, and 1911-pattern pistols such as the M1 Advisor and the 1911A1 in .45 ACP.
