BBRKIN and MouTec Biometric Gun Safes Recalled Over Unauthorized Access Risk
About 9,100 BBRKIN and MouTec biometric firearm safes are under recall because unauthorized users can open the biometric lock, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The agency says the defect creates a serious injury hazard and risk of death.
The recall covers gray steel model QHXP029B safes with serial numbers SQC200034980 through SQC202319171. The serial-number label is on the lower-right front corner. The BBRKIN or MouTec name appears on the upper-right front corner. The safes measure about 14 by 12 by 57 inches and hold approximately five firearms.
Owners should immediately stop using the biometric feature, remove the batteries and use only the key when storing firearms. BBRKIN is offering a free repair kit.
The safes were sold exclusively on Amazon from March 2020 through February 2024 for $260 to $409. CPSC lists no reported injuries.
