Primary Arms Optics released a CLx 1-6x24 second-focal-plane rifle scope with its new ACSS 22LR G2 reticle on September 17. The underlying optic is the entry-level CLx low-power variable scope already in the company's line; the new configuration is the rimfire-calibrated reticle. Primary Arms lists it at $199.99 and says it is available now through its store and authorized dealers, with the company's lifetime optics warranty.

A reticle calibrated around common .22 LR loads

The ACSS 22LR G2 is a bullet-drop-compensating reticle matched to 36-to-40-grain .22 LR projectiles with muzzle velocities from 1,000 to 1,200 feet per second. That range covers many standard- and high-velocity loads, according to Primary Arms, but it is not a promise that every load will land precisely on the marks. Actual trajectory can vary with ammunition, barrel, atmospheric conditions and sight height. The release supplies the intended ballistic envelope but does not publish the exact trajectory model used to place each hold.

The prescribed zero is 50 yards at the center aiming dot. Beneath it, drop references run in 25-yard steps at 75, 100, 125, 150, 175 and 200 yards. A barbell-shaped mark identifies each 50-yard interval, making the 100-, 150- and 200-yard references visually different from the intermediate holds. That layout lets a shooter identify the major distances without counting every line, while retaining the extra 25-yard references between them.
