Primary Arms Optics began shipping two PLx Compact first-focal-plane rifle scopes on September 17: a 2.5-20x48 model and a 4.5-36x56 model. The shorter scope is listed at $2,299.99, while the higher-magnification version is $2,499.99. Primary Arms says both are in stock through its store and authorized dealers, so this is a retail release rather than a preview with an unspecified launch window. Both are covered by the company's lifetime optics warranty.

Two formats for different distance work

The 2.5-20x48 measures 11.5 inches. Primary Arms positions its broader low end and shorter body for general-purpose precision work that moves between medium and long distances. The 4.5-36x56 is three inches longer at 14.5 inches and trades that compactness for more magnification and a larger objective. The company describes it as the extreme-long-range option. Those dimensions and magnification ranges are the concrete dividing line between the two models; the announcement does not provide weights, mounting lengths or elevation-travel figures.

Both scopes use extra-low-dispersion lenses manufactured in Japan. Primary Arms says its coatings are intended to reduce chromatic aberration, maintain color and control distortion toward the edge of the image, including in difficult light and weather. Those are manufacturer performance claims, not independent test results. The release calls these the company's best glass to date and says the scopes are intended to compete in the premium professional-grade category, but it does not publish transmission measurements or a comparison protocol that would let buyers quantify those claims.
