Torch 762 Tops Tested Over-Bore Suppressors on 10.3-Inch Rifle
PEW Science published its Torch 762 evaluation on October 7, measuring Liberty Precision Machine's .30-caliber suppressor on the laboratory's standard, untuned 10.3-inch MK18 in 5.56 NATO. The tested configuration used Federal XM193 55-grain ammunition, an LPM Baby Bell muzzle brake and a Rearden Atlas HUB coupler. It produced a composite Suppression Rating of 45.2. That result applies to this complete host, ammunition and mounting combination, not to the suppressor in isolation.
The tested hardware and protocol
The Torch 762 is 6.9 inches long and 1.74 inches in diameter without a mount. Its rear uses 1.375-24 HUB threads. PEW Science lists the bare suppressor at 18.6 ounces; the Baby Bell and Atlas hardware add 2.9 ounces, producing a 21.5-ounce tested system measuring 7.47 inches. The welded core and first expansion chamber are 3D-printed Inconel 718. Those dimensions matter when comparing the result with shorter dedicated 5.56 cans: this was a mid-size .30-caliber system with additional mounting length and mass.
The laboratory loaded six cartridges and fired the rifle in a single-shot fire-control setting until the magazine emptied and the bolt locked open. Five shots entered the analysis, while the sixth remained in the data presentation so the procedure stayed consistent with the broader PEW Science dataset. Pressure data were acquired at 1 million samples per second. The public report shows muzzle measurements taken one meter left of the muzzle; detailed data from the location six inches right of the shooter's ear remain in the member version.
