Detailed Features
The Kick-Off MEGA system uses hydraulic dampeners in the stock to absorb recoil energy before it reaches the shooter's shoulder. Shooters transitioning to high-volume waterfowl hunting or those with recoil sensitivity notice the difference clearly. The Steelium Plus barrel is a cold-hammer-forged steel with a special alloy that Beretta claims improves shot pattern consistency. The Optifade Timber camo pattern is designed for wooded and brush cover environments. Included Optima HP Extended choke tubes cover Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder configurations.
At 7.4 lbs the gun is on the heavier end for a semi-auto field gun, which some shooters prefer for swing control on crossing birds. The gas-operated action cycles reliably across a wide range of loads including light 2-3/4" target shells through heavy 3.5" magnum waterfowl loads.
Usage Scenarios
The A400 Xtreme Plus is built for waterfowl and upland hunting where shot volume is high and recoil adds up over a day in the blind. The 3.5-inch chamber gives flexibility for high-brass steel loads on geese. It also works well for clay sports where the reduced recoil translates to faster target recovery.

What Reviewers Say
Quoted verbatim from YouTube reviews. Each link opens the video at the moment quoted.
Little bit of give in it but it's just that soft finish that actually feels really nice up against your face a lot of plastic stocks feel cold and miserable this doesn't.
The trigger safeties I would prefer they be behind I don't like to move my finger forward to come back but it's not too awkward either.
I do prefer the rotating locking bolt on these on just about every modern Beretta.
I think the price tag scared me when I first looked at it but if you take it completely objectively that this gun has every you could ever want on a semi-automatic it's not so bad.
It's relatively good value and I'm always looking for good value you know there's a lot of guns out there that don't represent it and some that do in different ways but this does.
Customers Say
AI-generated insights derived from customer reviews and discussions on popular gun-enthusiast forums.
The A400 Xtreme Plus KO draws praise primarily for its recoil reduction. Owners who have shot other semi-autos back to back with this model consistently note that the Kick-Off MEGA system makes high-volume shooting significantly more comfortable. This matters most to waterfowl hunters putting up 50-100 shells in a morning.
Build quality and cycling reliability are frequently highlighted. Owners report it running cleanly through light target loads and heavy magnum steel without adjustment, which is not always true of semi-auto shotguns.
The weight comes up as a genuine trade-off. At 7.4 lbs it is noticeably heavier than competing semi-autos, which some buyers find fatiguing on long field walks even if the recoil system compensates during shooting. A few users note the gun handles awkwardly for smaller-framed shooters.
The higher price relative to other semi-autos generates some debate, but most owners who use it regularly conclude the Kick-Off system and cycling reliability justify the cost. Beginners sometimes find the gas system and Kick-Off mechanism more complex to clean and maintain than a simple pump.
