The first thing that struck me was the appearance. Photos really do not capture how good this rifle looks in person. Once I handled it, the bolt was the other standout. Its movement feels smooth rather than rough or hesitant, which gives the rifle a very satisfying feel. The overall weight also lands in a sweet spot for me. It does not come across as awkwardly heavy or insubstantial. Between the better-than-expected looks, slick bolt movement, and well-judged weight, the Sierra Wilderness made an excellent first impression. Those three qualities work together particularly well and are exactly what I hoped to find in this left-handed rifle.
