Usage
The 1911-22 is a training and plinking pistol that mirrors the ergonomics and controls of a full-size 1911. The .22 LR makes it cheap to run and easy on the wrists. Shooters learning the 1911 platform can build muscle memory on the thumb safety and single-action trigger without the expense or recoil of centerfire ammunition. At 15 oz it handles differently than a steel 1911, but the controls are identical.

What Reviewers Say
Quoted verbatim from YouTube reviews. Each link opens the video at the moment quoted.
The Recoil of course is just that of a 22 the ergonomics feel great I think my only complaint of it is that it might be a little bit too small for my hands.
Well I've got to admit I wasn't that excited about this gun it just has a little bit different feel it's just honestly so stinking light.
There is another safety in this gun that I'm not a big fan of there is a magazine disconnect.
As I'm shooting this more the size is really growing on me I don't think I would want one chambered at 45 this size but for 22 it seems to work just great.
The trigger on this pistol is really nice it has a very short take-up and a great reset.
Customers Say
AI-generated insights derived from customer reviews and discussions on popular gun-enthusiast forums.
The Browning 1911-22 Medallion gets consistent approval from owners who use it as a training companion to a larger 1911 or as a low-cost plinking pistol. The 1911 control layout (single-action trigger, thumb safety, grip safety) is the main draw; it's useful for building habits that transfer directly to larger caliber 1911s.
At 15 oz it's noticeably lighter than a steel 1911, which some owners enjoy and others find changes the feel too much compared to what they're training for. Accuracy across reported range sessions is positive. Build quality earns genuine praise. Browning's fit and finish on the rimfire model draws compliments for a gun at this price point.
Reliability with specific ammunition types comes up. Most owners find it runs well with quality round-nose loads and has occasional issues with certain bulk hollow points, standard for .22 LR semi-autos generally. Price for a .22 pistol gets scrutinized; some find value compelling, others compare it to less expensive rimfire options.
