The Browning A5 Lightning is a semi-automatic 12-gauge shotgun that pairs the classic humpback profile with modern internal updates. The gloss black finish over an aluminum alloy receiver and a Turkish walnut stock in gloss finish give it a traditional appearance that's held up well over the years.

Detailed Features

The Inflex II recoil pad does a real job of managing felt recoil, letting you stay on target for follow-up shots without discomfort building up over a long day. The fiber optic front sight picks up light well for fast target acquisition. Three chokes (Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder) cover most hunting and sporting situations without needing to buy additional tubes. The ABS case is included.

The Browning A5 Lightning 12 Gauge gets broadly positive feedback, centered on its classic design and smooth operation.

The gloss black finish and Turkish walnut stock are consistently praised for their appearance. Semi-auto cycling is described as reliable and smooth, which is the main practical requirement for hunting or sporting use. Recoil is generally rated as comfortable, even with heavier 3" loads, which most owners attribute to the A5's long-recoil operating system combined with the Inflex II pad.

Weight is the most common criticism, at 6 lbs. 11 oz., it's not heavy by any standard measure, but some users note fatigue after full days in the field. The price point also comes up: it's acknowledged as higher than many semi-auto alternatives, though most owners feel the quality justifies it.
