Detailed Features

The break action opens quickly for reloading, straightforward for teaching new shooters, and fast enough for experienced hunters who shoot pairs in the field. The adjustable choke lets you tighten or open the pattern for different game and ranges without swapping choke tubes. Double bead sights give a clear sight picture on moving targets. The custom finish protects against field conditions.

Target Audience

The 28-gauge Citori appeals to upland hunters and clay shooters who want the reduced recoil and lighter felt weight of the smaller gauge. It also works as an introduction for newer or younger shooters who find 12 or 20 gauge loads uncomfortable.

Usage Scenarios

1. Upland Bird Hunting: The light weight and 28-gauge payload are well-matched to quail, pheasant, and woodcock hunting.
2. Clay Shooting: The adjustable choke and double bead sights suit both trap and skeet from this platform.
3. Introduction/Training: The break action design makes safe gun handling straightforward to teach and verify.

The Browning Citori in 28 gauge draws consistent praise from upland hunters and clay shooters who specifically want a lighter-recoiling option.

The handling and balance come up repeatedly. Owners describe it as easy to mount and swing on moving targets, and the 6.8125 lb. weight is appreciated during long days on a bird hunt.

Accuracy and the smooth break action are the other major positives. Most owners find the double bead sights adequate for upland work, and the break action cycling is smooth and consistent.

The main caveat in discussions is the 28-gauge's niche nature. It's genuinely effective for small upland birds and sporting clays, but 28-gauge ammunition costs more and is harder to find than 12 or 20 gauge, which matters for high-volume shooters. Some owners keep a 12-gauge for practice and use the Citori for hunts.

Overall sentiment is positive, with owners viewing it as a well-made firearm that excels in specific applications rather than a general-purpose shotgun.
