Small-frame Charter Arms revolvers like the Undercover Lite draw a loyal following among people who want a simple, lightweight backup gun. Owners generally trust the double-action/single-action trigger and the transfer bar safety, though .38 Special snubnose revolvers in this weight class produce noticeable recoil, and that comes up often in reviews.

The aluminum frame keeps the gun light for pocket or ankle carry, which owners consistently cite as the main reason they bought it. The tradeoff is a grip that some find too small for a full firing hand, and the exposed hammer can snag on clothing during a fast draw if the holster is not chosen carefully.

Value-wise, the Undercover Lite sits at a lower price point than many concealed-carry revolvers, and buyers are generally satisfied with that tradeoff. The white pearlite grips and black passivate finish get some praise for looks, but a common complaint is that fixed sights and a short sight radius make the gun harder to shoot precisely at distance.
