Owners of the Cimarron Richards Transition Type II generally buy it for its appearance as a period-conversion revolver rendered in modern production. The case hardened and blue finish gets consistent praise for its look and the walnut grips feel solid in hand.

The .45 Colt chambering is a draw for those who shoot single-action revolvers recreationally. The 5.5-inch barrel handles well for target work, though the single-action operation means deliberate cocking between shots, which is expected for this style.

Fit and finish from Cimarron gets mixed remarks. Many owners are happy with the quality at the price point; others note that cylinder timing or action smoothness can vary unit to unit. Opinions on the 3-dot sights are divided, with some preferring a more period-correct sight picture.

This is an interesting take on a classic-style revolver, and the unusual character is a big part of its appeal. More importantly, mine shoots well, so it offers substance beyond its distinctive appearance.
