The Cimarron Firearms Revolving Carbine is chambered in .357 Magnum / .38 Special and built on a single-action mechanism with an 18-inch barrel. It holds six rounds, weighs 4.1 lbs, and wears a blued finish over a one-piece walnut grip with a brass butt plate.
The single-action mechanism gives a clean, consistent trigger pull that aids accuracy. The 18-inch barrel adds muzzle velocity over a handgun in the same caliber and extends effective range for medium-distance work. Six rounds is a modest capacity by modern standards, but the balance and weight stay manageable as a result. The blued finish and walnut stock are period-correct in appearance; the brass butt plate is a durable, functional detail that also reinforces the carbine's vintage styling. Dual .357 Mag / .38 Special compatibility gives ammunition flexibility.
Owners of the Cimarron Classic .357 Magnum Revolving Carbine tend to fall into two camps: those who bought it specifically for the historical character and those evaluating it as a practical shooter.
The blued finish and walnut stock draw consistent praise for fit and finish. The .357 Magnum chambering is seen as genuinely versatile (usable for target shooting, small game, and light hunting), and the ability to also run .38 Special keeps practice costs down. Handling is described as smooth, and the single-action trigger gets good marks for feel.
The practical complaints are predictable for this type of firearm. At 4.1 lbs the carbine is manageable, but some users find it tiring during extended sessions compared to lighter modern rifles. Six-round capacity and the manual of single-action cycling are real limitations against contemporary options. Sight options and aftermarket parts are limited, so shooters who want to customize beyond the stock configuration will find few paths forward.
