The Cimarron Heritage Model P is a single-action revolver chambered in .45 LC/.45 ACP with dual cylinders, letting the shooter swap between the two cartridges. The case hardened pre-war standard blue finish and 1-piece walnut grip give it a classic look that tracks closely with original Colt Single Action Army aesthetics. It weighs 2.2 lbs and carries well for extended use.

Detailed Features

The dual cylinder setup is the main practical feature here. .45 Long Colt is the traditional choice, and .45 ACP is more widely available and often cheaper per round, so having both options adds flexibility without requiring two separate guns. Swapping cylinders is straightforward.

Single-action operation means the hammer must be cocked before each shot. This slows the rate of fire compared to double-action revolvers, but it also gives the shooter more deliberate trigger control, which is why single-action guns remain popular in cowboy action shooting.

The case hardened frame has the mottled color pattern associated with historical Colt production. The walnut grip fits the hand naturally and the finish is clean.

Usage Scenarios

• Cowboy Action Shooting: The single-action mechanism and period-correct finish are well suited to SASS and similar competition formats.
• Collecting: The case hardened pre-war blue finish and dual-cylinder configuration make it interesting to collectors focused on Colt SAA-style revolvers.
• Field Use: At 5.5 inches of barrel and 2.2 lbs, it's a reasonable sidearm for hunting or backcountry carry where .45 LC or .45 ACP suffices.

Owners of the Cimarron Heritage Model P generally appreciate the build quality and the authenticity of the finish. The case hardened frame and blued steel read as a faithful reproduction of pre-war SAA styling, and collectors in particular note the attention to detail in the finish work.

The dual cylinder feature draws the most functional praise. Being able to run .45 ACP alongside .45 Long Colt adds real versatility, and shooters involved in cowboy action events or carrying for field use find this useful. Reliability with both calibers is generally reported as solid, though a few users mention occasional issues with specific ammunition brands.

Shooting feel is described positively. Recoil is manageable for a .45, and the single-action trigger pull is clean enough for most purposes. Some shooters note the trigger could be smoother and opt to have a gunsmith tune it, but it's not a common complaint.

Price discussions are mixed. Some buyers see it as good value given the dual-cylinder capability and Cimarron's reputation for historical accuracy. Others compare it against similar offerings and weigh the cost-to-feature ratio more critically. Customer service experiences vary; most are straightforward, though a minority report delays getting parts or support.
