The Cimarron Holy Smoker is a single-action .45 Colt revolver with a 4.75-inch barrel and a color case-hardened finish. It holds 6 rounds, weighs 3.2 lbs, and comes new in box from Cimarron Firearms. The finish is a traditional case-hardening process, which produces the mottled color pattern associated with period-correct revolvers and also hardens the surface metal.

Detailed Features

The color case-hardened finish does two things: it hardens the metal surface and creates the distinctive mottled coloration that collectors associate with authentic 19th-century revolvers. The one-piece wooden grips provide a traditional look and a secure, consistent grip. Fixed front and rear sights give fast target acquisition at typical handgun distances. The single-action mechanism requires manual cocking before each shot, which is part of the platform's character and produces a clean, consistent trigger pull.

Use Cases

This revolver fits cowboy action shooting (SASS) competitions, Western historical reenactments, and collection. The .45 Colt caliber and 4.75-inch barrel are the standard Cavalry configuration. It is also usable for home defense, though the single-action mechanism requires more deliberate operation than a double-action revolver.

The Holy Smoker's biggest draw in community discussions is its traditional aesthetic. The color case-hardened finish gets a lot of attention, particularly from collectors who want something that looks like it belongs in a 19th-century setting rather than a modern gun shop. Build quality is generally praised, with the finish and woodwork cited as standout points.

Shooters who use it for cowboy action events frequently mention the smooth action and comfortable grips as positives. The single-action mechanism is noted as requiring some acclimation for those coming from double-action revolvers, but enthusiasts view this as part of the experience rather than a drawback.

Price-to-quality comparisons come up often, with most buyers finding the Cimarron at a reasonable point relative to similar traditional-style revolvers. A few comments note weight or size preferences, with occasional requests for lighter options. There is an active community of owners who swap maintenance tips and event experiences.
