Detailed Features:

The stainless steel frame and barrel hold up well to regular use and resist corrosion without much maintenance. Fixed sights keep the sight picture simple and fast. The single-action mechanism requires manually cocking the hammer before each shot, which encourages deliberate trigger work and tends to produce cleaner breaks than a double-action pull. Wood grips fill the hand comfortably and give the gun a classic look.

Target Audience:

The Thunderer suits collectors who want a historically styled revolver they can also shoot, and competitors in cowboy action events who need a 3.5-inch-barreled single-action. At 37.9 oz it handles .45 Colt recoil without feeling harsh.

Usage Scenarios:

Cowboy action shooting is the obvious fit given the caliber, barrel length, and pre-war frame. It also works for range days where the goal is slow, accurate fire rather than round count. The .45 Colt cartridge gives adequate stopping power for home defense, though the 6-round cylinder and manual-cock requirement are worth considering in that context.

Owners of the CIMARRON Thunderer .45LC 3.5" Stainless generally like the stainless finish for practical reasons, it resists corrosion and holds up well with minimal care, while also appreciating the overall look of the revolver. The compact 3.5-inch barrel comes up often as a selling point for concealed or easy holster carry.

Shooting performance gets good marks. The smooth single-action trigger and manageable .45 Colt recoil make it enjoyable for target work and cowboy action competition. Opinions on the balance and feel vary depending on what someone is used to handling.

The main complaint is price. Some buyers feel there are more cost-effective options for a shooter who isn't attached to the Cimarron name or the pre-war styling. For collectors and cowboy action competitors who specifically want this style, the cost tends to feel justified; for someone just looking for a functional .45 revolver, it may not be the obvious first pick.
