Detailed Features

The over/under action keeps the lockup simple and the failure modes minimal. There is little to go wrong mechanically. The Turkish walnut stock provides good grip and shoulders comfortably, and the ergonomic pistol grip keeps the wrist in a natural position during the swing. Five choke tubes (Full, Improved Modified, Modified, Improved Cylinder, Cylinder) cover the range from tight turkey patterns to open clay sport setups. The bead front sight gives a clear aiming reference without cluttering the sight picture. The manual tang safety engages and releases naturally without moving the hand off the stock.

At 7 lbs with a 28-inch barrel, the Drake balances well for both upland game and clay shooting, light enough to carry in the field but heavy enough to absorb 12-gauge recoil without punishing the shooter.

The CZ Drake generates strongly positive feedback from owners, with the walnut stock and overall value being the most frequently cited reasons for satisfaction.

The wood-to-metal fit and finish quality on the Turkish walnut stock is consistently praised. Buyers in this price bracket sometimes get plain or rough wood, but the Drake delivers attractive grain without paying a premium. Field handling is described as natural and well-balanced. Performance with various ammunition types is generally smooth, and the over/under action locks up solidly.

Weight is the most-mentioned drawback, with some owners noting it tires the arm during long field days. Trigger pull consistency is occasionally noted as variable between guns. Price is generally seen as fair or even low for the quality delivered, which makes it a common recommendation for entry-level to mid-level over/under buyers.
