The Franklin Armory M4-SBR-L is a semi-automatic rifle built around the company's BFSIII binary trigger system. The binary trigger fires once on pull and once on release, which noticeably increases the rate of fire compared to a standard trigger. It takes some practice to use well, but it's the defining feature of this platform.
Most of the discussion around the M4-SBR-L focuses on the binary trigger. Owners who enjoy the feature find it genuinely fun at the range and useful in certain competition formats. The compact design gets positive marks for maneuverability, and the Magpul CTR stock and Ergo Grip combination is generally well-regarded for comfort.
The criticisms are predictable: reliability questions come up when running some ammunition types or in adverse conditions, and the binary trigger has a learning curve. Not everyone adapts to it quickly, and a few users prefer to use it in semi-auto mode until they're comfortable. Price discussions are common. The rifle sits at the higher end of the market, and whether the binary trigger system justifies the premium depends on how much the shooter values that feature.
