Features
The cold hammer-forged, chrome-lined barrel is the standout spec here. Chrome lining extends service life under sustained fire and resists fouling from the 7.62x39 cartridge, which runs dirty in most platforms. The free-float M-Lok handguard allows accessory mounting and manages heat during rapid fire. Adjustable night sights have tritium inserts for low-light use. The collapsible side-folding polymer stock adjusts length of pull and folds for compact storage or transport. Weight is 8.1 lbs. unloaded, which is on the heavier side for this caliber.

Customers Say
AI-generated insights derived from customer reviews and discussions on popular gun-enthusiast forums.
Owners of the Galil Ace Gen II in 7.62x39 consistently highlight the build quality as a standout feature. The rifle feels solid, the controls are well-positioned, and the chrome-lined hammer-forged barrel is rated well for durability. Accuracy gets favorable marks across varied distances, and the 7.62x39 caliber's recoil is considered manageable for the power it delivers.
The main negatives are weight and price. At 8.1 lbs. empty, the Galil Ace is heavier than many competitors in this class, which affects how it handles during longer sessions or rapid transitions. Price is also a recurring discussion point. Buyers generally accept the cost given IWI's build quality, but some feel comparable 7.62x39 rifles are available for less. Magazine compatibility and aftermarket accessory options come up as minor friction points for users wanting specific upgrades.
