Detailed Features

The semi-auto action reduces perceived recoil compared to a comparable pump by spreading the cycling energy over time. The Hi-Viz fiber optic front sight picks up quickly across varied lighting. The Turkish walnut stock holds up to field use and handles well. The chrome-lined barrel resists corrosion and is straightforward to clean. Crossbolt safety is located at the trigger guard for quick access.

Usage

With a 28" barrel and 7.75 lb weight, this gun is well suited for upland bird hunting and clay shooting. The semi-auto action allows quick follow-up shots without re-acquiring the target between cycles. The wood stock makes it a reasonable option for shooters who prefer traditional aesthetics over synthetic.

Owners of the Hatfield SAS 12 GA with walnut stock generally like the appearance and find the semi-auto action reliable for standard loads. The value proposition comes up frequently. Most buyers feel the walnut stock and Hi-Viz sight at this price point are competitive. Performance in the field for upland hunting and clay shooting is generally positive.

The main criticism from owners is sensitivity to light loads. Some report failures to cycle with lighter target shells, which is typical of inertia-operated semi-autos that are tuned for field loads. Sticking to standard or heavier loads resolves this for most owners. Weight (7.75 lbs) is occasionally noted as on the heavier side for extended carry days.
