The Hi-Point CF380 is a compact semi-automatic handgun chambered in .380 ACP with a striker-fired action. The polymer frame keeps weight at 29 oz while the adjustable 3-dot sights let shooters dial in their point of impact. An integrated LaserLyte trigger guard red laser is included, which helps with target acquisition in low light. The 8+1 round capacity is on the low side but acceptable for the size class.

Hi-Point backs the CF380 with a lifetime warranty, which is notable at its price point. The gun is made in the US. Feed it quality factory ammo and it runs reliably; some shooters report finicky behavior with certain hollow points, so range testing your carry load is worth doing.

The Hi-Point CF380 with LaserGuard gets a polarized reception, and most of the disagreement breaks down along expected lines.

The most consistent praise is for the price. Buyers who needed a functional .380 without spending much get what they paid for, a gun that works. Many owners report solid reliability with factory ball ammo and appreciate Hi-Point's lifetime warranty, which the company actually honors. The LaserGuard gets positive marks for low-light use. The compact size works for concealed carry even if the gun is heavier than most subcompacts at 29 oz.

The criticisms are real. Ergonomics divide people. The grip works fine for some hands and feels clunky for others. Extended shooting sessions can cause discomfort. The aesthetics take consistent hits; Hi-Point's design language is purely functional and that doesn't appeal to everyone. Customer service experiences range from responsive to frustrating depending on whom you ask. There's also a brand stigma in some circles, though shooters who focus on value over prestige tend to dismiss it.

Bottom line: the CF380 is a budget gun that does what a budget gun should. It fires reliably with the right ammo. Anyone buying it for concealed carry should test their preferred hollow point load before trusting it.
