Features

The HS Precision stock includes an aluminum bedding block, which stabilizes the action relative to the stock and reduces the variables that affect point of impact. The barrel is threaded at the muzzle for suppressors or brakes. The receiver is drilled and tapped, no base included, but standard Howa rings and bases fit directly.

The .300 PRC is a newer long-range cartridge optimized for heavier, high-BC bullets with the 1:8.5" twist suited to that purpose. At 7.80 lbs and 44.75" OAL, this is not a light stalking rifle; it's more at home on a bipod or shooting position than on a long pack-in.

Typical Uses

• Long-range hunting where .300 PRC's ballistics at extended distances are the objective
• Precision rifle competition and bench work
• Hunters targeting large game at distance from fixed shooting positions

Owners of the Howa M1500 HS Precision in .300 PRC are mostly positive about its accuracy and the overall build quality Howa has historically delivered. The bolt throw is smooth and the action tolerances draw consistent praise. Most shooters find it holds zero well and produces consistent groups at long range.

The HS Precision stock with its aluminum bedding block is seen as a meaningful upgrade over standard synthetic stocks. Owners note it contributes to shot-to-shot consistency. The gray/black color scheme gets positive mentions for aesthetics.

Weight comes up as a real-world concern for some users. At 7.80 lbs before optics, it's on the heavier side for a hunting rifle, and some buyers note it's better suited to a shooting bench or supported position than a long carry. A few owners mention considering aftermarket trigger upgrades for competition use. Overall, the rifle is seen as a solid long-range platform at a reasonable price for what it offers.
