Features

The heavy threaded barrel accepts muzzle attachments: suppressors, brakes, and similar devices. Carbon steel construction with a matte black finish holds up in field conditions. The fixed polymer stock provides a stable platform at 6.9 lbs. The Mini Action is a scaled-down version of the M1500 action, trimmed for cartridges in the .350 Legend class rather than full-length magnum dimensions.

The .350 Legend cartridge is straight-walled, making this rifle legal for deer hunting in states that restrict rifles to straight-walled cartridges. Recoil is moderate for the caliber.

Uses

Hunting, particularly deer and medium game in dense woods where a shorter, lighter rifle is practical. Also suitable for range practice and competitive shooting where the .350 Legend class is used. The threaded muzzle expands versatility for suppressed hunting applications.

Feedback on the Howa Mini Action in .350 Legend is largely positive, with a few practical caveats.

The compact size at 6.9 lbs and 16.25-inch barrel is the feature most praised by hunters. Navigating thick brush or shooting from a blind is easier with a shorter rifle, and the weight is comfortable for all-day carry.

.350 Legend caliber performance draws consistent positive comments. The cartridge handles deer and similar-sized game effectively, recoil is manageable, and the straight-walled case qualifies it for hunting in states with straight-wall restrictions, a meaningful legal advantage in several Midwest states.

Accuracy reviews are strong. Most owners report tight groupings out of the box at typical hunting distances. The Mini Action is widely regarded as producing good precision relative to its price point.

Build quality holds up well in field reviews. Materials and workmanship are described as solid for a hunting rifle in this price range.

Customization is a recurring topic. The platform supports aftermarket stocks, optics, and accessories, which appeals to shooters who want to tune the setup.

The main criticisms are narrow: aftermarket support is thinner than for more popular bolt-action platforms (Remington 700, Ruger American), which limits holster and accessory options. Stock fit and trigger pull get mixed reviews based on individual preferences. Ammunition availability has been discussed in the context of broader .350 Legend supply fluctuations, though this is a market issue rather than a rifle flaw.
