The Keystone Crickett is a single-shot .22 LR rifle sized for youth and new shooters. The 16.1" barrel keeps the overall length short enough for smaller frames, and the single-shot action means each shot requires a deliberate manual reload, which is the point for teaching marksmanship basics.

Detailed Features

The single-shot action is a deliberate design choice. It slows things down and puts the focus on sight picture and trigger control rather than volume of fire. The black finish is straightforward and holds up to outdoor use. The compact proportions suit youth shooters but also work for adults who want a lightweight, low-recoil plinker.

This is a teaching rifle first. It handles safety courses, backyard plinking, and introductory range sessions well. Experienced shooters will find the 1-round capacity limiting, which is by design.

Parents and youth instructors consistently rate the Crickett well. The lightweight build and compact size come up most often. Kids can actually hold and handle it comfortably without adult help. The single-shot mechanism gets credited for building patience and focus in new shooters.

Build quality holds up to the usual wear from youth use, and the color options available across the Crickett lineup let kids pick a gun they're genuinely excited to carry.

On the critical side, the trigger pull is noted as heavier than ideal by some users, which can work against accuracy development. Shooters who have moved past the basics find the single-shot capacity frustrating quickly. But for its intended purpose, a first rifle for young or new shooters, the consensus is straightforward: it works well.
