Features

At 5.5 inches long and 3.9 inches tall, the Solo CDP fits a standard concealment rig without issue. The Crimson Trace Lasergrip is built into the grip panel, no separate laser mount, so target acquisition is fast regardless of light conditions. The aluminum frame keeps weight at 17 oz while the stainless steel slide handles wear over time. The 1-in-10 right-hand twist barrel is standard for 9mm.

Target Audience

Concealed carry shooters who want a 9mm in a small, lightweight package. The Lasergrip makes it useful for those who want fast target acquisition, and the quality of materials appeals to buyers who want something built to last.

Usage Scenarios

• Personal Defense: The Lasergrip allows quick target acquisition under stress, and 9mm is manageable even from a 2.7-inch barrel.
• Everyday Carry: At 17 oz and 5.5 inches long, it fits most carry rigs comfortably under clothing.
• Training: The manageable recoil and compact frame work well for marksmanship drills.

The Kimber Solo CDP draws a mix of praise and criticism depending on what the owner prioritizes.

Compact size and light weight are the most common positives. At 17 oz, it carries easily all day, and the subcompact dimensions make concealment straightforward. Kimber's fit and finish get consistent praise. The materials feel well-matched and the build quality is generally above average for a subcompact.

The Crimson Trace Lasergrip is a meaningful plus for most owners. It integrates cleanly and improves accuracy in varied lighting without adding bulk.

Reliability is the main area of concern. Some owners report feeding issues with certain ammunition types, which is a significant point for anyone counting on the gun for self-defense. Whether this is a break-in issue or a persistent one varies by owner, but it comes up enough to warrant attention during selection.

Ergonomics are mostly positive, though shooters with larger hands sometimes find the subcompact grip less comfortable than expected.

Overall, discussion around the Solo CDP tends to circle back to the same tension: the build quality and carry convenience are genuinely good, but reliability questions with certain loads give some buyers pause before committing to it as a primary carry gun.
