The Mauser M20 is a semi-automatic .22 LR pistol built around a 4-inch threaded barrel and a 13-round magazine. It's a compact rimfire option built for everyday target use, with fixed iron sights for straightforward aiming. Rimfire pistol owners generally judge a gun like the M20 on how consistently it cycles cheap .22 LR ammunition, since feeding issues are the most common complaint in this category. When it runs clean it's a low-cost way to put a lot of rounds downrange without breaking the bank.

The compact size makes it comfortable to carry and easy to handle for newer shooters or anyone working on trigger control, though the light recoil impulse of .22 LR means it won't fully replicate the feel of a centerfire pistol for training purposes. The threaded barrel is a plus for owners who want to add a suppressor for casual range use where legally permitted.

Value is usually the draw with a rimfire pistol like this: ammunition is inexpensive compared to centerfire calibers, and the threaded muzzle adds versatility without a big price jump over a plain-barrel model. Aftermarket support for compact .22 LR pistols tends to be lighter than for more established platforms.
