Owners of the POF Phoenix generally credit Patriot Ordnance Factory's reputation for solid machining, and most report the direct blowback 9mm action running reliably once broken in. A subset of owners note that blowback 9mm pistols in this weight class can feel snappier than a locked-breech design, though that softens with more rounds through it.

Handling-wise, the AR-style layout and M-LOK handguard make the Phoenix feel familiar to anyone used to a rifle-pattern manual of arms, and the ambidextrous controls are a common point of praise. Some shooters find the pistol brace and short barrel combination front-heavy compared to a traditional handgun, which affects one-handed shooting.

On value, the Phoenix draws a following in the pistol-caliber AR-style category for its magazine capacity and modularity, and the M-LOK and Picatinny rail setup means aftermarket accessories mount without much trouble. A few owners wish the proprietary magazine were more widely available compared to more common patterns.
