Features

The .450 Bushmaster cartridge pushes a large-diameter bullet, typically 250 to 300 grains, at velocities that produce serious terminal performance on large game. It's a popular choice in states that restrict hunting to straight-wall cartridges, and the bolt-action format gives reliable extraction even with the heavy loading.

At 6.5 lbs with a 20-inch barrel, this is on the lighter end for a .450 Bushmaster rifle, which helps during carries in the field. The matte blued receiver doesn't throw glare, and the Mossy Oak Terra Gila pattern suits western and arid terrain hunting environments. A 4-round magazine is standard for this class of hunting rifle.

Feedback on the Patriot TerraGila .450 Bushmaster is generally positive, with some practical trade-offs noted.

Accuracy and terminal performance on large game are the most consistent points of praise. Hunters using it in straight-wall cartridge states find it does the job well at appropriate hunting ranges, and the 20-inch barrel is considered a good balance between maneuverability and velocity. The bolt action is reported as reliable, with smooth extraction even with heavier .450 BM loads.

The main complaint is weight and bulk relative to other hunting rifles. At 6.5 lbs it's light for the caliber, but some users coming from lighter centerfire rifles still notice it during extended field carries. Recoil with .450 Bushmaster is real. Most users describe it as manageable but not light, which is worth knowing before buying. Aftermarket accessories are more limited than for common AR or bolt-action platforms, and a few users mention wanting more customization options. Overall satisfaction is high among deer hunters who specifically need the .450 Bushmaster cartridge.
