Retay's semi-autos, including the Ace Paloma, tend to get good marks for how soft they shoot. Owners regularly point to the AIRY recoil pad and the gas system working together to tame felt recoil, and cycling reliability is generally described as solid once the gun is broken in with a variety of loads.

Fit and handling draw a mix of opinions. The slopeback receiver profile and adjustable length of pull make it easier to get a proper cheek weld, and people who spend a lot of time in the field or on the clays course like the balance. A few shooters note that the stock adjustment takes some trial and error to dial in compared to a simple stock shim system.

Value is where the Ace Paloma gets talked about most. Buyers see it as a smaller-gauge autoloader with the fit and finish of a full-size field gun, and the included choke set covers most needs without an extra purchase. Aftermarket support is thinner than for the big American brands, so most owners stick with factory parts rather than heavily customizing it.
