The Rock Island Armory Pro Ultra Match HC is a single-action semi-automatic pistol chambered in .40 S&W, built on the 1911 platform with a higher-capacity double-stack frame. The 5-inch barrel gives good sight radius and contributes to accuracy at longer distances. A fiber optic front sight paired with an adjustable rear makes target acquisition fast across different lighting conditions, and the G10 grips provide solid traction during extended shooting sessions.

The steel frame with black Parkerized finish is durable and resists corrosion. Beavertail grip safety is standard. This is a full-size competition-oriented pistol. The weight works in your favor at a bench or in IPSC, less so for daily carry.

Users of the Rock Island Pro Ultra Match HC in .40 S&W generally land in positive territory, with accuracy being the most consistent praise. At the bench or in competition, the pistol shoots well and feels well-made for the price. The adjustable sights get specific mention for being genuinely useful rather than decorative.

The main practical criticism is weight. At 46.5 oz the pistol is heavy for anything beyond range or competition use, and shooters who tried it for carry typically switched to something lighter. Trigger feel is described as adequate but not refined out of the box. Some owners report it smooths out with use, others went straight to an aftermarket replacement. A handful of users also reported slow or inconsistent responses from Rock Island's customer service, which shows up in enough discussions to be worth noting.
