Detailed Features
The ported barrel vents gas upward to reduce muzzle rise, which speeds up target reacquisition on follow-up shots. At 3 inches it's compact enough for concealed carry while still keeping a 7-round cylinder, one round more than most comparable L-Frame revolvers. The tritium night sight front and adjustable rear give solid low-light capability.
The exposed hammer allows single-action shooting when precision matters. The rosewood grips are checkered for grip, and the L-Frame provides more cylinder capacity than a K-Frame at comparable size.

What Reviewers Say
Quoted verbatim from YouTube reviews. Each link opens the video at the moment quoted.
No it makes them shoot about the same because this gun is heavier than my kppa but the kppa has that lower Barrel so it actually shoots about the same.
I actually like laminate grips over solid hardwood grips a lot of people don't like laminate grips but I like them because they're stronger and I think they absorb recoil a little bit better.
The trigger on this gun as I expected it to be is pretty amazing and it's very solidly built it's very well put together.
It looks like when they sanded it they may not have sanded it all evenly because when they applied the bluing the barrel is glossier than the rest of the gun.
Customers Say
AI-generated insights derived from customer reviews and discussions on popular gun-enthusiast forums.
Users who discuss the 586 L-Comp tend to appreciate the combination of the ported barrel and 7-round capacity. Those two features together make it a useful competition and carry revolver. Accuracy at typical defensive distances gets consistent positive remarks.
The tritium sights get called out as genuinely useful, not just a spec line. Build quality and in-hand feel are recurring positives. Weight comes up as a concern for extended carry; at 36.40 oz. it's a substantial gun, and some users find it heavy for all-day carry while others prefer the mass for shooting stability. Price is viewed by some as high relative to standard S&W L-Frames, though Performance Center work commands a premium.
