The Savage Arms Axis 2 Compact XP is a bolt-action rifle built for left-handed shooters who want a functional, accurate package without a lot of fuss. The compact configuration and 20" barrel make it easy to handle in the field, and the gray synthetic stock sheds weather without adding bulk.
The AccuTrigger is user-adjustable, letting shooters dial in pull weight to their preference rather than living with a factory setting. The 20" barrel keeps overall length to 39.5", which matters when moving through brush or hunting from a blind. Gray synthetic stock resists moisture and stays light at 7.5 lbs. total. Integral swivel studs are already in place for sling attachment, and the included 3-9x40 scope means the rifle is ready to shoot without an immediate trip to the optics counter.
This rifle is aimed at left-handed hunters and newer shooters who have limited southpaw options at this price point. The .243 Win caliber handles medium game well and recoil is mild enough that it won't discourage beginners.
The .243 Win is a capable deer and antelope cartridge with enough versatility for varmint work. At the range, the adjustable AccuTrigger and included scope let shooters focus on technique rather than gear. The compact length also makes it manageable for younger or smaller-framed hunters.
I think the bolt issue has been resolved.
Savage just do like this core locked I'm thinking that's not terrible but it's not great.
These right here, they are the cheapest, the most untrustworthy rings ever, right?
What I would suggest is if you don't want to go with this and go with something more expensive, Savage has great rifles.
I trust my crossbow more than I trust this rifle. And I trust my AR-15 more than I trust this one.

Left-handed shooters consistently note how few compact bolt-action options exist at this price, and the Axis 2 XP fills that gap reasonably well. Most owners report solid out-of-the-box accuracy with decent groupings, and the lightweight build gets praised for all-day carry comfort in the field.
The included 3-9x40 scope is generally considered adequate for general hunting use, though shooters who push past 200 yards often swap it for better glass. The AccuTrigger draws mostly positive comments. People appreciate being able to adjust pull weight rather than dealing with a fixed factory trigger.
On the critical side, some users find the trigger pull heavier than ideal even after adjustment, and a few mention the stock ergonomics as merely functional rather than comfortable. Neither complaint tends to outweigh the value the rifle delivers at its price point. For budget-conscious left-handed hunters, it remains a practical first or backup rifle.
