The Savage Arms Axis 2 Compact XP is a bolt-action rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor with a matte black finish and green synthetic stock. It ships as a ready-to-shoot package, including a mounted 3-9x40 scope, and is compact enough to suit younger or smaller-framed shooters.
The user-adjustable AccuTrigger lets shooters set pull weight to their preference, which helps with consistency. At 39.5 inches overall and 7.5 lbs., the rifle moves easily in the field and fits a wider range of body sizes. The matte black finish reduces glare and holds up to outdoor use. The drilled and tapped receiver accepts additional optics or accessories beyond the included scope. Integral swivel studs are already in place for sling attachment.
This rifle works for new shooters who want a functional, no-fuss package, experienced hunters who need a compact and light carry rifle, and competitive shooters who value a consistent trigger in varied conditions.
For hunting, the light weight and 20" barrel make it easy to carry over long distances. As a sport shooting rifle, the adjustable trigger and included scope mean minimal setup before heading to the range. The compact dimensions also suit storage situations where a full-length rifle is impractical.
Mentioned the butt pad is new that's a night and day difference.
One of the things that's a real limitation of this gun package right here is the scope.
Active triggers fantastic it has that little blade that some people don't like but it breaks clean breaks like this one here breaks around three and a half pounds.
That's the best group that's three touching guys that's three well under an inch.
I really like this hardwood and that's the same stock it's just made out of wood.

The Savage Axis 2 Compact XP in 6.5 Creedmoor draws generally positive feedback, with a few recurring criticisms.
Affordability is the most consistent positive. Users note that it delivers solid performance for the price, and the included scope makes it a practical choice for beginners or anyone looking for a complete package without extra spend. Accuracy at longer ranges gets regular praise, with many reporting tight groups. The compact size and light weight are appreciated by smaller-framed shooters and those covering rough terrain.
On the critical side, the stock material is a frequent mention, functional, but it feels basic next to higher-end rifles. Some users recommend upgrading the factory scope for serious long-range work, as its performance in low light or at distance has limits. A few novice shooters also mention that managing recoil comfortably took some adjustment, and that a recoil pad helped.
