The Mark II FV-SR is a .22 LR bolt-action rifle with a 16.5-inch threaded (1/2x28) fluted barrel and Savage's AccuTrigger system. The fluting reduces barrel weight and helps with heat dissipation during extended sessions. A 4-12x40 scope is included. At 35.25 inches overall with a synthetic stock, it's a compact, practical package for the .22 LR shooter.
The fluted stainless barrel is threaded at 1/2x28 for suppressor or muzzle device attachment. The AccuTrigger lets shooters adjust pull weight between roughly 2.5 and 6 lbs without gunsmithing. The included 4-12x40 scope covers most .22 LR use cases right out of the box, though experienced shooters often swap it for a dedicated rimfire optic.
The Savage Mark II FV-SR draws consistent praise for accuracy. The AccuTrigger is the most frequently mentioned feature. Owners appreciate the adjustability and the clean break, and it's often cited as one of the better factory triggers available at this price range.
Build quality is generally seen as solid for the price. The included 4-12x40 scope is well-regarded by newer shooters who want everything in one box; more experienced owners tend to replace it but don't fault Savage for including it.
Versa is a consistent theme in reviews. Plinking, small game, youth training, and range work all come up as valid applications. The manageable recoil and compact dimensions make it particularly accessible for younger or newer shooters.
Minor complaints include comments on weight (heavier than some in this class) and stock aesthetics, but these rarely affect overall satisfaction. Most owners are happy with what they paid for.
