Features

The AccuTrigger allows pull weight adjustment for a cleaner break. A free-floating, button-rifled barrel combined with dual pillar bedding in the stock keeps the action stable and reduces shot-to-shot variation. The carbon steel barrel wears a matte black finish. Three-position safety covers fire, safe-with-bolt-operation, and fully locked. The included Nikon 3-9x40 scope with BDC reticle lets you get on target immediately without sourcing separate optics.

The .270 WSM cartridge hits hard at distance and is well-suited for deer, elk, and other large North American game. Recoil is noticeable but manageable for most shooters.

The Savage Trophy Hunter XP 11/111 in .270 WSM draws consistent praise for accuracy out of the box, with several owners noting tight groups without extensive load development. The bundled scope is a practical advantage that saves setup time, though some users replace it with a higher-grade optic over time.

The rifle is frequently described as good value given the feature set, and Savage's customer service gets positive mentions when issues come up. The bolt action cycles smoothly, and newer shooters find it accessible.

On the downside, some components feel more utilitarian than premium at this price point. The rifle weighs 8.5 lbs, and a few hunters note it gets heavy on long treks. Recoil with .270 WSM is stout enough that recoil-sensitive shooters notice it. Opinions on the factory stock's look split between those who accept it as functional and those who prefer something with more refinement.
