What Reviewers Say
Quoted verbatim from YouTube reviews. Each link opens the video at the moment quoted.
This is empty with the standard magazine my entire pinky hangs off the bottom of it so I don't really get the best uh grip on this thing.
It is still small enough to pocket carry while still providing that power.
It being a micro compact that uh 40 caliber is I'm assuming is going to be a little bit Snappy.
My grip would suffer with this uh this six round mag and it would start to slip off which would cause me to limp risk this and it did have a couple of little issues.
I like it I think it's uh I think it's good um I'm probably going to do a couple of modifications to this the trigger kind of sucks.
Customers Say
AI-generated insights derived from customer reviews and discussions on popular gun-enthusiast forums.
The Smith & Wesson M&P40 Shield .40 S&W gets broadly positive feedback for its carry characteristics, with some specific criticisms.
The slim form factor is the most consistent positive. It carries comfortably and conceals well, which is the primary job for a pistol in this category. Reliability is reported as solid by most owners, with consistent function across different .40 S&W loads. The ergonomic grip and controls get good marks, and accuracy at defensive ranges is generally satisfactory.
On the critical side, .40 S&W recoil is more noticeable in a compact frame than in a full-size pistol, and new shooters transitioning from 9mm sometimes find it takes adjustment. The 6+1 capacity is a common complaint compared to 9mm micro-compacts that offer more rounds in the same or smaller footprint. Some shooters find the factory trigger reset long and prefer an aftermarket option. Finish durability comes up occasionally for heavy-carry users. The price relative to competing platforms is debated in forums.
