The Springfield Armory XD Mod.4 OSP is a 9mm Luger, striker-fired pistol with a 4-inch hammer-forged steel barrel and a black polymer frame. This Gear Pac configuration is built around 10-round magazines and adds a Viridian RFX11 red dot, extra magazines, and a carry bag to the base pistol. The slide is optics-ready through the OSP plate system, and the pistol still carries steel fiber-optic front and white-dot rear sights for backup use without an optic mounted.

Detailed Features

• Optics-ready slide accepts red dot sights through the OSP mounting plate system, and this package ships with a Viridian RFX11 already paired to it.
• Aggressively textured black polymer frame is meant to keep the grip controlled under recoil.
• A redesigned flat-face trigger works alongside a passive grip safety, loaded chamber indicator, and striker-status indicator.
• Steel fiber-optic front sight and white-dot rear sight give a usable backup sight picture if the red dot goes down.
• The Gear Pac includes four 10-round magazines plus a pistol carry bag as part of the package.

Owners of the XD Mod.4 line generally call it a rugged, reliable pistol that runs clean out of the box. The grip safety draws mixed reactions: some like the extra positive engagement it forces, others find it an unnecessary step compared to a straight striker-fired trigger. Complaints tend to be minor, more about the factory sights or trigger break-in than about the gun failing to run.

The OSP slide cut is one of the more praised parts of the Mod.4 lineup, since it lets a red dot sit low with a good cowitness to the irons. The frame texture is grippy, and the overall size is described as comfortable for a service or carry-size pistol, though a few shooters find the grip a bit blocky next to a Glock or M&P.

On value, the XD Mod.4 OSP is usually seen as competitively priced against other striker-fired duty pistols, especially packaged with a mounted optic and extra magazines like this Gear Pac. The tradeoff owners mention most is a smaller aftermarket than Glock or Sig, so holster and parts selection takes more looking.
