Detailed Features
The 22" barrel has a 1:11 RH twist, well-suited for stabilizing heavier .308 projectiles at distance. Black parkerized finish on the steel receiver resists corrosion and cuts glare. Military-style sights, National Match front blade with adjustable rear, let the shooter fine-tune for elevation and windage without optics. The American walnut stock gives a traditional feel and comfortable cheekweld during extended sessions. The ambidextrous manual safety is a practical addition, as the original M14 design was right-hand only.

What Reviewers Say
Quoted verbatim from YouTube reviews. Each link opens the video at the moment quoted.
The 308 is such a satisfying round to shoot because it doesn't have a ton of recoil but it's just enough to let you know that you're holding on to a beast.
By design has a relatively Stout recoil it's fun to shoot and can actually shoot a pretty practical grouping.
These uh these are just fun to shoot uh The Recoil impulse it is 308 but it's it's very mild.
For iron sights they're great probably one of my favorites actually.
It actually works really well okay that actually felt really good and it allows you to loosen up your grip in the back.
Customers Say
AI-generated insights derived from customer reviews and discussions on popular gun-enthusiast forums.
The Springfield M1A Standard CA .308 gets consistent praise for its craftsmanship and the appeal of the walnut-stocked M14 lineage. Accuracy feedback is generally positive, with owners reporting solid performance on paper at the ranges typical for .308.
Weight and bulk come up regularly as drawbacks. 9.3 lb unloaded is on the heavy side, and the 44" length isn't handy in a blind or vehicle. Some shooters coming from lighter modern rifles find the handling adjustment real.
The 10-round California limit draws mixed responses. Most CA buyers accept it as a prerequisite of ownership in-state; a few express frustration compared to the standard 20-round M1A magazine.
Cost is debated. Many owners consider it fair given the quality; others point to comparable-caliber alternatives at lower prices. Parts and customization availability occasionally comes up as a concern. The M1A ecosystem is smaller than AR/M4-pattern platforms.
