The Taurus 24/7 PRO is a semi-automatic handgun chambered in 9mm, built around a Single Action/Double Action trigger system developed through extensive engineering work. It targets sport shooters and self-defense users who want a capable pistol with a meaningful capacity.
The SA/DA trigger system speeds up follow-up shots and holds up well under stress. Each 24/7 PRO ships with a hand-mated frame, slide, and barrel, all bearing matching serial numbers, which contributes to the tight fit and consistent accuracy the platform is known for. The pistol has been used in speed shooting competitions and has set records in that context.
With a 17+1 capacity and a 4-inch barrel, the 24/7 PRO balances firepower and manageability for both range training and home defense. At 1.8 lbs, it's light enough for extended practice sessions without becoming uncomfortable.
User discussion around the Taurus 24/7 PRO reflects a generally positive reception, with some consistent caveats.
The affordability angle comes up often. Buyers feel the pistol delivers good value relative to its price, particularly given the 17-round capacity and 4-inch barrel that balances compactness with accuracy. The grip ergonomics draw frequent praise, with most shooters finding it comfortable to hold. Adjustable sights are noted as a useful feature for dialing in aim.
The main criticisms involve reliability. Some owners report occasional jams or misfires, and the general advice in the community is to be selective with ammunition and keep up with regular maintenance. Trigger pull is another point of contention: acceptable for most uses, but a subset of shooters feel it limits precision work.
The overall picture is a value-oriented pistol that works well for everyday range use and home defense, but one that benefits from careful ammo selection and consistent cleaning. Buyers who research reliability data beforehand tend to have better experiences.
